Statement

I discovered the glass as a way of expression not too long ago. For many years words were the only middle words I uttered. Today glass is used to express my ideas and interests. The fragility of glass as a material, symbolizes for me the social and ecological reality in which we live and our fragility as human beings.

In my work I tell stories, with the glass filling the place of words. The inspiration comes from different sources: a book I’ve read, graffiti I’ve seen on the street, news events, internal moves. Legends, folk tales, mythology, literature and surrealist art fascinate me.

I usually work on a series of works that represent a particular idea from different angles, until I feel like I have nothing more to add.  Only then do I turn to think and work on another idea or topic.

My work begins with the emotion or concept that is brewing within me and seeks to enter the world. Then I see it as an object in my mind. I do not draw a sketch or make a diminutive model. Sometimes I sculpt the model with clay, sometimes directly with wax, and sometimes I use a ready-made object.

Most of my pieces are done using the lost wax method, a long and challenging process. I like dealing with coarse and dirty materials, when at the end of the process a piece is obtained in a material that is at the same time hard but fragile, transparent or partially opaque, colored or completely transparent.

My recent works are abstract, expressing an imaginary world of landscapes influenced by places I knew, landscapes some of which have changed over the years and remain in memory only.
